How is the beginning of Ramadan established?
It is established in four ways:
1. One sights the new moon him/herself.
2. Those who are trustworthy say that they have sighted the new moon.
3. Two trustworthy people say that they have sighted the new moon and give the same descriptions of it.
4. Thirty days pass the beginning of Sha'ban.
The beginning of Ramadan cannot be established upon the forecast of scientists and astronomers. However, if based on such forecasts one can make sure about the beginning of the new month, they should act upon it.
